Reviews From Our Judges
Dr. Dhan Kalvakolanu
"Aahaarya, Inc sponsored "Swara Tandavam" is an innovative program that
vividly presented the talents of local youth. I was very impressed with
the performances of all participants. The parents of all participants
deserve a special credit for training the children. As a judge, it was
challenging to distinguish the differences between the top performers.
Although some of them won the prizes, the others are not certainly weak
or of low quality. The organizers did a fantastic job with program. It
will be good idea idea to spread this program to other participants in
the future. I hope the organizers, Mrs. Prabha Maruvada in particular,
are thinking to expand it further. My congratulations to Ahaarya, Inc on
its maiden event that certainly left a mark of its own."
G. Ramakrishna Rao
"The caliber of the contestants was high and they all performed with
enthusiasm, energy and grace. It is heartening to see our children show
such interest in our culture and learn Sanskrit, classical music and
classical dance in spite of pressure from academic and other activities.
This is, of course, made possible by the effort of loving parents and
dedicated teachers. Contests like the one you are conducting will surely
help to maintain the high standard for which our metropolitan area is
known."
Prabhakar Thyagarajan
"It was indeed a pleasure to be a judge for Aaharya's Swara
Thandavam final competition. The event was very well organized by
Aaharya. Through such competitions, Aaharya is playing an important
role in the Washington DC area in providing an opportunity for
youngsters to learn and appreciate the rich classical traditions
of scriptural chanting, Indian music, and dance. It was heartening to
see the high level
of enthusiasm and talent shown by all our youngsters, and hope even
more parents and their children will be encouraged to participate in
future

General Reviews
We have received numerous compliments and encouragements on our first
Aahaarya competitions in Indian classical music, dance and Sanskrit chants. It
was held in two rounds, Preliminary and Final, with three categories and three
age groups.
We started the event with an opening of title song on Swara Thandavam, followed
by Sanskrit prayers rendered by Uma Potarazu and prabha Maruvada.
Our main event started with Sanskrit group followed by Music group and then
dance group. Quizzes were asked by Master of Ceremonies (Uma Potarazu and Subha
Maruvada) after item was rendered by participant. Judges played their role very
fluently to seek more technical and artistic knowledge in participant. We
acknowledge our MC's for their pleasing and entertaining approach.
Aahaarya is honored to compliment each participant to display his/her
proficiency and daring to face co-contester. Aahaarya encourages more
participants in the comming years and plans to organize special events by
bringing past winners.
